Puffins are awesome. Their striking colors are beautiful and it is great fun to see them flying and roosting along the coastal cliffs. This puffin headband is just as fun as the birds themselves. Great for a day out on the water fishing or sightseeing!

Fun facts about puffins:

  • They are nicknamed "sea parrots" and sometimes "clowns of the sea"!
  • Puffins spend most of their time at sea, months on end in fact. They can surf atop waves for resting to break up life at sea.
  • With wings that can (or must) flap 400 times a minute, puffins can cover up to 55 miles (88 km) an hour! Since they are essentially nomadic birds who return to shore only a few months a year, they cover a lot of miles.
  • With strong webbed feet for rudders, puffins can dive almost 200 feet. As they dive, they use their wings to flap underwater, giving them superb propulsion. Scientists say they're actually better at swimming than flying.

Frequently Asked Questions

How big are your classic headbands? Will they fit my head?
Most of our headbands are at least 18.5" around and 3.5" wide. They fit most head sizes but if you find that most headwear is too tight for you, these might be as well. The twist bands, fleece headbands and wool lined headbands are made larger so try one of those!
Do you design your fabric?
I design a lot of the fabric and you can find those designs in the "happy AK designs" category here:  https://happyak.com/collections/happyak
Will these headbands stay on my head?
The most feedback I get about my headband is that they do not slip like other headbands. I purposely taper the back of the headbands to help them slip less. However, I think a lot of times people experience their headband slipping has to do with how you wear the headband. Make sure you keep the headband down on your forehead a little bit. The more you push it back on your head, the more likely it will slip.
